Dr. Griffith is now a participating provider with Beacon group commercial insurances (eg. NYSHIP), Excellus Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Fideliscare insurances in St. Lawrence County, New York. Utilization of insurance requires that the client, or insurance holder for the client, sign a release to allow Dr. Griffith’s billing service, Regional Medical Management, of Watertown, N.Y., to verify their insurance enrollment, obtain insurance authorizations for services to be provided, bill insurance companies for clinical services provided by Dr. Griffith, and note co-pays and insurance payments made to Dr. Griffith for clinical services provided. By law, insurance co-payments and co-insurance payments, for those with deductibles, must be collected at the time clinical services are provided. During the COVID-19 pandemic, telephone session copays will be billed to insurance clients by Regional Medical Management. Dr. Griffith accepts cash in the exact amount (she does not have change at her office) or checks for in person session co-payments and co-insurance payments. Primary insurers must be billed first, before secondary insurers, again as required by law. Dr. Griffith has officially “opted out” of Medicare, but does offer “senior rates”, on a sliding scale based on income, from $35 to $100/ clinical hour, to those 65 years of age and older. Those seniors, in order to see Dr. Griffith, must agree not to bill Medicare, or any other gap insurance plans, for her services, and to pay her “out of pocket” only.

Dr. Griffith also has a private pay, fee-for-service practice. Her standard, self pay rate is $150/ clinical hour. Some fee adjustments may be possible for working adults and their children who pay privately for therapy, starting at $50/ clinical hour. No fee adjustments are possible for assessments. Payment is again due at the time services are provided, in cash (exact amount) or check form. School vouchers also accepted for payments for clinical services to school districts in St. Lawrence County, N.Y. She also will see Canadian clients at her New York State office, with private payment in U.S. funds (no Canadian checks accepted.)
